“I always want to be the best that I can be, whether a lawyer, mother, or friend. Being and doing my best has always served me well in life and is the one thing I can point to that has led me from a small town, the seventh child of eight children, to become a person I am proud for my children to call Mom.”

After more than 25 years of experience advising chief officers, administrators and governing boards of public entities and local businesses, I am humbled to request your support as I seek my next challenge in life: a run for Judge of the 172nd District Court of Jefferson County.

As a lawyer, I have a duty to represent my clients and to do it well, regardless of the personal costs. I tackled each assignment with professionalism, honor, and dignity. If presented the opportunity, I plan to take these same qualities to the bench.

After graduating in 1992, as the Most Outstanding Female Graduate of South Texas College of Law, I began my career as a trial attorney in Beaumont.  I have litigated more than one hundred employment matters. I have successfully handled more than 100 federal and state administrative investigations and hearings. I am Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law. I was named Super Lawyer in the field of Education Law by Texas Monthly in 2004. I am ready to serve, qualified to serve, and promise fairness to all who enter my courtroom. Experience. Independence. Integrity —that’s my respectful submission to you.

A native of Crosby, Texas, Melody Chappell graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Austin. Melody graduated from South Texas College of Law, where she was named the Most Outstanding Female Graduate of 1992.
